今日、SNS等の普及により、個人の言葉が容易に、瞬間的に、大量に、パブリックな空間に発信されるようになりました。物理的な距離に捉われる必要がなくなり、コミュニケーションの回路は拡がった一方、次々とタイムラインに放たれ、反射的にキャッチされる言葉は、しばしばディスコミュニケーションの引き金ともなっています。
本展では、「言葉」に対する鋭敏な感覚を持った作家たちに依頼し、他者を理解するための技術である言葉が、その本来の、或いはあたらしい力を発揮する「居場所」としての作品を提示します。言葉ひとつひとつの密度、それを発した人の体温、紡がれた時間を反芻するような鑑賞体験が、私たちをとりまく世界や、それぞれの生を営む人びとへの想像力につながることを願っています。
“Places of Words” is an exhibition that introduces contemporary expression based around “words”- which are the most fundamental means of communication - of the same period. The exhibition displays work as the “place” that demonstrates the original or new powers of words, the use of which is a skill for understanding other people. We hope that this exhibition helps us imagine the world around us and everyone that lives there.
