1979年1月、小樽から余市を通過して倶知安から胆振線に乗る。終点の伊達紋別まで行って室蘭本線に乗り換え母恋まで帰った。1両だけの普通列車は羊蹄山の北から東側を迂回して喜茂別を過ぎ胆振地方に入ると山のトンネルを抜けて新大滝に向かう。線路は北湯沢手前で長流川を渡り狭い渓谷を南下して行く。壮瞥で昭和新山が見えたはずだが冬の夕方でもう日が落ちていたのか写真はない。2017年、グーグルマップに線路は無く町の名前も変わってしまっている。
January 1979 , leaving Otaru, passing Yoichi and on to the Iburi Line from Kuchan. At the end of the line at Date Mombetsu I changed trains to go to Bokoi on the Muroran Main Line. Just a single regular rail car going east around Mt. Yotei entering the Iburi area after Kimobetsu and traveling through mountain tunnels till Shin Otaki. Just before Kita Yuzawa the rails cross the Osaru River continuing south through narrow valleys. At Sobetsu we should have been able to see Showa-Shinzan, but it was winter and the sun had gone down so there are no photos. In 2017, the rail line has disappeared from Google Maps, the names of the towns we went through have changed.
